Parts Cleaning Solutions
A manufacturer building satellite-launch systems needed to guarantee every aluminum component would bond reliably to its insulating substrate layer. Even microscopic residues of hydrocarbon oil or machining debris could weaken adhesion and jeopardize launch integrity.
The company’s legacy trichloroethylene (TCE) solvent line was becoming a liability — costly to maintain, environmentally burdensome, and increasingly difficult to certify for aerospace programs.
The customer needed a team of process specialists to design a repeatable cleaning method that would deliver bond-ready aluminum surfaces, high-performance solvent cleaning, and withstand tight aerospace audits. They required a modern aqueous process that would fit a custom 2000-liter spray wash cabinet without compromising throughput or material integrity.
Brulin partnered with the manufacturer to engineer an end-to-end aqueous spray wash program centered on AquaVantage® 1990 GD. Together, the changes formed a closed-loop process that could be validated, documented, and easily transferred across production shifts.
AquaVantage 1990 GD was chosen for its proven ability to lift hydrocarbon oils and particulate from aluminum without etching.
We configured chemistry, flow, and coverage patterns specifically for the customer’s large-format 2000 liter spray wash cabinet.
Tight pH monitoring and a staged DI rinse safeguarded substrate integrity and ensured downstream bonding success.
The new cleaning process outperformed the retired TCE line on every critical metric. This validated system now anchors the customer’s launch-vehicle production, giving engineers and executives the confidence that every aluminum component would meet mission-critical bonding specifications.
