Parts Cleaning Solutions

Boosting Efficiency In Quality-Focused Operations With A Single Process Change

The Challenge

A manufacturer specializing in turbine engine and airframe components needed a parts cleaning solution they could depend on. Their operation involved removing soils from titanium, nickel alloys, stainless steel, and aluminum parts, each with unique chemical sensitivities, prior to critical Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).

Their previous chemistry left white residue and staining on aluminum surfaces, threatening NDT integrity and production reliability. Even at reduced concentrations, the staining persisted. At the same time, an increase in the number of batches was cutting tank life down to just 2 - 3 months, adding maintenance overhead and cost.

The customer turned to Brulin's team of process specialists to help them find a cleaning solution that would eliminate staining across their wide variety of metals and protect NDT outcomes without altering equipment or workflow.

The Solution

Brulin's team replaced the old chemistry with AquaVantage® 815 GD, a powerful aqueous cleaner formulated for precision applications and NDT-critical environments.

Recognizing additional opportunities for improvement, our team also focused on extending tank life beyond the typical 2 - 3 month cycle to reduce maintenance demands and strengthen the customer's bottom line.

Improved Chemical Compatibility

AquaVantage® 815 GD resolved aluminum staining issues without requiring any changes to existing washers or rinse cycles.

Cleaning Process Preservation

The implementation preserved wash time, temperature, and rinse flow while reducing detergent concentration from 18% to 12%.

Significantly Longer
Tank Life

With increased production demand, AquaVantage® 815 GD supported a longer cleaning cycle, extending the need for tank changeouts by 2×.

Realized Success

The transition to AquaVantage® 815 GD eliminated staining issues, doubled tank life from 2 - 3 months to 4 - 5 months, and delivered more consistent results. With a single change in chemistry, the customer's team was able to increase throughput without compromising part quality, inspection integrity, or maintenance cycles, elevating both performance and peace of mind.
